How to use Awstats to view website traffic statistics

If you want to view information regarding your website traffic, you can do so by accessing Awstats from cPanel.

Step 1: Login to your cPanel account and go to Metrics >> Awstats.


Step 2: Click on the View button in front of the domain for which you want to view statistics.


At the beginning of the report you will be able to set a certain period of time (month and year) for which you want to view the statistics. After you select it, click on OK

In the first window you will notice two tables Summary and Monthly History

In the first one you will be shown information about your website traffic in the selected period regarding:

- Unique visitors;
- Number of visits;
- Pages;
- Hits;
- Bandwith.

In the second table, the same information is displayed in a chart.


On the left side you have the navigation menu you can use to go to a certain part of the report.


Scroll down to see tables containing information about website traffic distributed across:

- Days of month;
- Days of week;
- Hours;



The next table - Locales - will show you the first 25 countries from where your website was accessed.

In the Hosts table, you will be able to view a list containing the first 25 IP addresses from where your website was accessed, how many pages were accessed, the number of clicks, bandwidth etc.

In the table named Robots / Spiders visitors, you will be able to view a list of the first 25 robots visiting your website, among specific details about it.


Visits duration shows the average time spent on the website by your visitors.

In the Pages-URL table you will be shown the first 25 most visited pages from your website among with specific information.

The other tables show you information regarding:
- Authenticated users (Top 10): the first 10 visitors authetincated to your website;
- File type: the type of files requested on your website;
- Downloads (Top 10): the top of the first 10 materials downloaded and specific information;
- Operating Systems (Top 10): the first 10 most used operating systems used by your visitors;
- Browsers (Top 10): the first ten browsers used to access your website;
- Connect to site from: the method used by your visitors to reach your website:
-> Direct address / Bookmark / Link in email... - visitors accessed your website using the full address of your website;
-> Links from an Internet Search Engine - visitors accessed your website through search engines;
-> Links from an external page (other web sites except search engines) -  visitors accessed your website via other websites;
-> Unknown Origin - there is no information regarding the method your visitors used to reach your website.
- Search Keyphrases (Top 10): the most used 10 keywords used by your visitors to reach your website;
- Miscellaneous: other information regarding visitors interaction and web browser capabilities;
- HTTP Status codes: response codes issued by server as a response to visitors' requests .
